At Holroyd Homes we are conscious that when you build new homes, you are very literally adding to a community. You are creating new spaces where people will live their lives, bring up children, work and form social connections and networks. With this in mind, we are very keen to be a positive contributor to local communities and give something back.
Upperthong Junior and Infant School
Earlier in the year, we became aware that the school closest to our current development at Broad Lane Farm, was looking for assistance with some building work. The school had obtained a grant to purchase a play cottage – a wooden outbuilding – for the children to enjoy and help with outside learning. The Cottage needed a good, strong, level base to sit on and so we were able to assist in funding the work to provide the base and the Cottage was officially opened at the start of the new school year in September 2019.
We hope the children will thoroughly enjoy the Cottage and that it will bring many years of play and learning to the School.
The Howarth Foundation – Business Building Futures
We are very proud to support the Howarth Foundation in its excellent work.
The Howarth Foundation’s initiative ‘Business Building Futures – Street 2 Feet’ supports the homeless or recently re-housed jobless back into full or part time employment or training.
The concept is simple but effective and supports all participants to the membership scheme, not just the homeless but local businesses, local authorities, the NHS, law enforcement, retail and the local community by offering employment to those who might otherwise be totally reliant upon state benefit, increasingly reliant upon the NHS, are likely to spend their time street begging and potentially become a drain on law enforcement resources by committing crime but also becoming a regular victim of crime. It is a fact that a life on the street is exceptionally dangerous for the vulnerable individual concerned who are regularly subject to abuse and assault.
Update from Broad Lane Farm
September 2019 saw the completion of Phase I of the development and the first houses become occupied! The first six plots are now complete and it’s amazing and thoroughly satisfying to see people turn them into homes.
Phase II is well underway with new houses taking shape quickly and the lucky new owners scheduled to move in early next year.
Work will shortly begin on the final element of the development; the rebuilding of the Grade II listed farm buildings. These characterful old buildings will be sensitivity rebuilt to provide three lovely character properties. Ready for occupation late Summer 2020, these will be released onto the market shortly by WM Sykes, so feel free to register your interest with them.
